Hi everybody!! In new Soundi (8/2008) there's an interview with Lauri (3 pages) about Black Roses. Here's a list with the most important information:
- Justify will be the second single. It is dark and emotional, a little slow and Depeche Mode-like song.
- The duet with Anette Olzon is "too good to be a B-side" and will maybe be released on a movie soundtrack.
- Black Roses is a theme album. It tells the tale of one person who is a combination of Lauri and fiction. Desmond had 100 pages of text by a professor, "how to write a perfect manuscript to a movie". The design is based on that article.
- before they went to Nashville Lauri, Pauli and Desmond wrote songs at a small island with no airport or tourists in Greece
- Guitars and basses are mostly recorded at Dynasty Studios. They recorded usually new parts there where they happened to be at the time.
- Lauri says The Rasmus will efort to US markets and Desmond's name could help them in doing that though Lauri admits some people might think Desmond has already made his hits. The Rasmus has sold 120 000 records in USA, but now they hope to do a good tour there and have more fame.
- Lauri thinks three years are too long between two albums but now the album is better prepared. Still it was rewarding to play in new places on Hide from the Sun tour, for example when they sold platinium in India due to the shows they played there.
- They'll have to choose the songs they will play live in the following tour. First they are gonna do an acoustic radio tour in Germany. New songs they will play for sure are Ten Black Roses and The Fight.
- Lauri says he won't move away from Finland like Pauli who has moved to Singapore because he still likes to live in Finland.
- Lauri has bought a boat this sommer (he lives by the sea) and he tries to enjoy free time. Now when they're more relaxed it's easier to make more songs and Lauri has a little recorder with him. Like when he's been at a gig he maybe creates a new riff and the band can test those ideas at soundchecks.
-EDIT: the album hasn't got yet a release date in the United Kingdom, U.S. and Japan. The tour in Europe starts in the beginning of January.
Sorry for this quite poor summary but I think there were the most important new facts. _________________ Stockmann, Helsinki - September 24

Thanks so much Clomery!

Good to know.

Hehehe, I knew it, I said it at the article where there was said they were taking it out the duet, I said they maybe were going to put it at some movie soudntrack...

This is not new, I still remember some fiction lines from TR songs... at Shot for example, Iīll take the shot for you or at The One I Love, Havenīt slept in a week... (what?? )
But itīs nice to know itīs gonna be about him.
| Quote: | | - before they went to Nashville Lauri, Pauli and Desmond wrote songs at a small island with no airport or tourists in Greece |
I remember this, it was around July 2007... Great, relaxing atmosphere...
| Quote: | | - Lauri thinks three years are too long between two albums but now the album is better prepared. |
This is good, if now the album is better then itīs better for us and the guys themselves.
| Quote: | | - They'll have to choose the songs they will play live in the following tour. First they are doing an acoustic radio tour in German. New songs they will play for sure are Ten Black Roses and The Fight. |
Lucky germans... I wonder how The Fight will sound..
| Quote: | | - Lauri says he won't move away from Finland like Pauli who has moved to Singapore because he still likes to live in Finland. |
I remember Lauri saying this same thing back in 2004 in 2005, 2004 at some MTV magazine, and at Iltalehti in 2005.
| Quote: | | - Lauri has bought a boat this sommer (he lives by the sea) and he tries to enjoy free time. Now when they're more relaxed it's easier to make more songs and Lauri has a little recorder with him |
Thatīs good, the guys are now relaxed until the tour starts, pretty understable... a boat, how cool... |

Wow, they announced the second single already. That's good to know.

Soundtrack to what movie?

I wish them good luck with their promoting in US! I guess BR will be released through DRT Entertainment as well?

It's not too long if the result is great. _________________

Thanks Clomery, what a lovely article!
Justify sounds interesting, even though I'd love 10BR as a single let's see how Justify is!
Aki and the article aren't saying the same Aki said it would be a B-side but movie soundtrack would sound ok...except that last time I looked you couldn't buy single tracks of movie soundtracks I hope you can now?
I can't really imagine them reading a "professor's manuscript" really but if they did it's cool
Acoustic radio tour in Germany? Cool!
I knew Pauli had moved to Singapore...that was said somewhere already but it's still funny _________________ Three blind mice, three blind mice

Thanks for posting and translation
I'm glad to hear that they have some tourdates in mind for Europe. And I know that Janaury is still far away. It's better for me financel and time.
The acoustic tour sounds really promising, hopefully it will be put on the internet _________________ ~My mind is on a diet~ |

Justify as next single! I thought it was gonna be You Got it Wrong, but now I hope it's a little better than YGIW
Soundtrack? I like it. I've never seen The Rasmus participating of a soundtrack, it's gonna be great (even it being with Anette XD)
Well, I think it's clearly that BR is an album to conquer american fans and The Rasmus seems to have this american dream maybe since Dead Letters or before (and I'm telling it just because BR is not very finnish, and a little more comercial, like they want more fame in south/north america).
Good interview anyway, would be nice a scan if it's possible _________________
